MIKE THE BIKE

Con questo post inauguriamo una nuova sezione dedicata ai Piloti che ci hanno entusiasmato maggiormente, sia del mondo delle motociclette sia di quello delle automobili.

Persone che hanno vissuto al limite e oltre, prima ancora che essere personaggi.

Ovviamente il primo post di questo tipo non può essere dedicato ad altri che Mike Hailwood.
Nato a Great Milton il 2 aprile 1940, si è affermato nel mondo delle corse motociclistiche e ha riscosso un certo successo anche nella Formula 1.

Con 76 vittorie nel motomondiale e ben 9 titoli, di cui 4 nella 500, 2 nella 350 e 3 nella 350, Mike è senz’altro uno dei piloti più importanti nella storia motociclistica, avendo corso e vinto prevalentemente con Honda e con MV e poi ancora con Honda.
Tra l’altro ha vinto ben 14 volte il TT all’isola di Man, anche contro il fuoriclasse Giacomo Agostini nel 1967.

Sulle 4 ruote ottenne un podio alla 24 ore di Le Mans, per poi gareggiare con la Surtees e anche meglio con la McLaren.
Sudafirca, Gran Premio 1973, coinvolto nell’indicente con Clay Regazzoni, ebbe la forza di uscire dall’abitacolo e soccorrere l’amico pilota mentre l'auto bruciava.

Tornato al TT, dieci anni dopo,  fu capace di vincerlo ancora in sella alla Ducati, e l’anno dopo anche con la Suzuki.

With this post we inaugurate a new section dedicated to those pilots who have impressed us most, both of the world's motorcycle and cars racing.

Persons who have lived up to the limit and beyond, even before to be famous characters.

Obviously the first post of this kind cannot be dedicated to others that Mike Hailwood.
Born in Great Milton,UK, April 2, 1940, established itself in the world of motorcycle racing and has enjoyed some success even in formula 1.

With 76 victories and such as 9 Titles in the World Championship, including 4 in the 500, 2 in 250 and 3 in 350, He is undoubtedly one of the most important racer in motorcycling history, having raced and won mostly with Honda, with MV, and then again with Honda.
Among other things, he had time to win 14 times the TT on the Isle of Man, even against the champion Giacomo Agostini in 1967.

On four wheels he got a podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and then raced with the Surtees and compete at higher level with McLaren.
Sudafirca, Grand Prix 1973, in the car accident involved with Clay Regazzoni, had the strength to save his friend and getting him it out of the cockpit, while the car was burning.

Back at the TT , 10 years after the last time, he was still able to win it on the Ducati, and the following year with the Suzuki.
